Permanent URI for this collection

This collection contains works created or edited by Ellis Librarian Emeritus Dr. Murarilal Nagar and his wife, Sarla Devi Nagar, a former curator of the MU Museum of Art and Archeology’s South Asian Collection. With topics ranging from library science in India to ancient Indian proverbs to the historical connection between MU and India, every selection included here was "published in the spirit of peace, or 'shanti,' and cultural cooperation." Gandharan Sculpture: A catalogue of the collection in the Museum of Art and Archaeology University of Missouri--Columbia
(The curators of the University of Missouri Museum of Art and Archaeology, 1981) Nagar, Sarla Devi
The Gandharan sculpture in the Museum of Art and Archaeology of the University of Missouri--Columbia forms a collection that is almost as old as the Museum itself. The first piece was acquired in 1960, but the major growth of the collection occurred during the past decade. In its entirety, it reflects the generosity of several donors: Dr. Samuel Eilenberg, Mr. Alan Wolfe, Mr. Eric Neff, and the Leland and Mary Hazard Fund. Only three objects have been purchased. The group covers a period of six centuries, from the first century B.C. to the fifth century A.D. It comprises largely stone objects, but some stucco works are also included.

    Kalpalatāvivekaḥ : Ajñātakartr̥kaḥ
(Lālabhāi Dalapatabhāī Bhāratīya Sanskr̥ita Vidyāmandira, 1968) Nagar, Murari Lal; Shastry, Harishankar
The present work is a sub-commentary on Kalpalatā. It is natural that it should suggest, as Hemacandra's Viveka does, its relation to the original. The compound 'Kalpapallava-śeṣa' would rightly describe its nature suggesting that Viveka is to supplement Pallava.
