Abstract

"The use of clinical simulation has become widely accepted among departments and schools of nursing and proven to be an effective modality of achieving student learning outcomes (Sujin, Jin-Hwa, & Jung-Hee, 2015). Often clinical simulation is performed on-site within a simulation center creating such barriers as financial constraints, restriction of human resources, limited physical space to accommodate multiple students, and simulations only being available at specified times (Bogossian et al., 2015; Cooper, et al., 2010). Use of e-simulation has been found to enhance student learning, skills, confidence, and competence (Bogossian, et al., 2015) and creates an ideal environment for students and instructors who engage in online distance education. The PURPOSE of this project was to develop, implement, and evaluate the use of interactive simulated clinical vignettes with in a newly developed online graduate Nursing Leadership, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship course utilizing existing human and physical resources in an effort to support distance student learning outcomes and satisfaction."--Introduction.
