Abstract
"OBJECTIVES: This study is concerned for the most part with isolating factors and characteristics which determine, or are associated with, the overall finanical management ability of the farm business operator. Specifically, these objectives are: 1. To determine which factors and characteristics of the farm business are most closely associated with the financial management performance of the farm business operator in each of the various types of farming included. 2. To determine which, if any, of these factors and characteristics are common to all of the types of fanning studied. 3. To develop a predictive model which might serve as a tool in indicating the financial management ability of a farm business operator, given the necessary records of past performance. II. HYPOTHESES The study is based on the following hypotheses: 1. That factors and characteristics which affect, orare associated with successful and unsuccessful ventures in farm and financial management can be identified within each type of farming. 2. That some of these factors and characteristics are common to all of the five types of farming included in the study. 3. That analytical tools and procedures can be developed for formulating a predictive model useful as a tool in the area of farm management and farm credit in evaluating the potential financial management performance, of an individual farmer before loan funds are committed."--Page 6.
