Abstract
"Object and Scope: This investigation was made to study the following questions: 1. The validity of using data obtained from push-out tests to predict the elastic behavior of composite beams. 2. The effect of shear connector spacing upon the behavior of composite beams. 3. The feasibility of using lightweight concrete in composite beams with the shear connection provided by headed stud type connectors. The method of attack was to develop first a theoretical analysis for predicting the behavior of composite beams based upon results of the push-out tests. Two beams, similar in every respect except for connector spacing, were then tested and their behavior compared with the theoretical analysis."--Page 2.
