Abstract

"In the United State, it is estimated that 17 million Americans age 40 and above have cataracts, and the rate is projected to be 3 fold higher by the year 2050. A delay of 10 years of the onset of cataracts would cut the number of people who need cataract surgery in half. Though some risk factors (Diabetics and UV exposure) have been reported to be associated with the development of cataract, the main cause for the increased prevalence of cataract is still not known. Therefore the present study was undertaken to determine the most prominent reasons for development of cataract using a big healthcare database."--Introduction.
