dc.description.abstract | It is a pleasure, very great pleasure for us to present this collection of photographs to the learned world. It is a glorification of an ancient holy city of India. We have discussed it most extensively in our earlier publications. There is some controversy among scholars with regard to the identification of ancient Mahishmati with a town today. Some say ancient Mahishmati is today's Maheshvara. Others argue that today's Omkara Mandhata is ancient Mahishmati. We subscribe to the latter view and have discussed it in our previous publications. Komal Goswami visited this holy land on behalf of Om Shanti Mandiram along with his guru Swami Aishvary Ananda as well as a professional photographer in the year 2004. We are highly pleased that they have brought to us a huge rare collection of photographs numbering 84. Father Geo George Kannanayil had also visited this holy city in 2005 and had photographed it most extensively along with a photographer. He has generously presented his entire rare collection of the photographs to us. Both devotees of OM have been helping us in so many ways. | eng |
