dc.description.abstract | This research examines how the journalistic community would respond to a new standard for mainstream news media's coverage of sexual assault. Through interviews with journalists experienced in covering sexual assault, this research employs qualitative thematic analysis to gauge participants' responses to the guidelines, specifically which parts of it they agree with and how best to implement the guidelines in newsrooms. Many journalists already practice some of the guidelines, and participants suggested explaining that the guidelines yield more accurate stories to garner journalistic support and interest. | eng |
